School of Foreign Languages Convening New Semester Foreign Teachers’ Meeting
(By Correspondent Jin Tang) At the beginning of the new semester, the School of Foreign Languages held a work meeting for foreign teachers to deploy and arrange teaching work for this semester. The meeting was presided over by Ms Ye Huiying, vice dean of the School of Foreign Languages. Mr. Liu Hui, dean of the school, and Ms Fu Qi, deputy director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, attended the meeting. Foreign teachers from English-speaking countries Wesley, Donyea, Thando, David, Japanese teacher Ogura, Wang Xiaogang, director of the Japanese Department, and Jin Tang, a teacher from the English Department, participated in this meeting.
Firstly, Vice Dean Ye expressed her gratitude to the foreign teachers for their hard work over the past year and welcomed the newly joined teacher. She explained the new changes in teaching schedules and locations for the semester and emphasized the importance of classroom discipline. Following this, Dean Liu affirmed the significant role of foreign teachers in enhancing our university’s internationalization and improving students’ foreign language learning. He gave a detailed introduction to the characteristics of the majors of the School of Foreign Languages and Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and guided foreign teachers on how to teach students in accordance with their aptitudes. Dean Liu also invited Wesley to share his experience in classroom teaching and encouraged foreign teachers to actively participate in guiding students' extracurricular activities. Finally, Deputy Director Fu stressed the importance of establishing a good teacher-student relationship and expressed her best wishes for the foreign teachers’ work in the new semester.
During the meeting, the foreign teachers actively spoke up and offered valuable opinions and suggestions on teaching methods, course content, and integration into campus culture. The leaders of the School of Foreign Languages and the International Office highly valued the feedback from the foreign teachers and addressed their questions and concerns.
This meeting provided a platform for foreign teachers to communicate and exchange ideas, reflecting the school’s emphasis on improving the level of internationalization and building a strong teaching team. It is expected that in the new semester, the foreign teachers will work together with the school to further enhance teaching quality and contribute to the cultivation of talent.
